The extra care and concern so needed at that stage is ensured by housing the young boarders in two Holding Houses under the personal care of a Housemaster and Matron. The school has built two new Holding Houses as part of its thrust on modernisation. The boys are assigned under the supervision of two Housemasters and a Matron. Language Development Programmes through the Electronic Language Lab
The Language Development Programme supports students whose learning styles have created barriers to academic progress and also to remove accents and any hesitation that the child may have in speaking a language. This programme is designed to help them develop awareness of how they learn, improve their language skills and help them internalise the study routines that facilitate the learning process. We offer English, Hindi, Punjabi, German and French as taught languages. If the child wishes to opt for any other language, the child may be permitted to do it under self study with the Principal’s authorization.
Technology & Campus
Bricks and mortar do not an institution make. However, since these house the paraphernalia needed to keep body and mind in the right frame, constant improvement in infrastructure is a necessary and an ongoing process. Recently, the school’s core academic and administrative areas have been wired by a fibre optic network. This is powered by state-of-the-art servers and broadband connectivity. Computers are used to teach computer science courses and as a resource for educational and administrative purposes. Every building on campus including boarding houses and teacher residences have been wired and ‘smart’ classrooms are in place to facilitate modern teaching methodologies. The school has thus embraced the advantages that higher technology has to offer and ensured its smooth blending in with traditional chalk and talk. This makes an emphatic statement about the school’s commitment to gearing students to navigate the information superhighway that is changing the world.
A society is known by the way it takes care of its teachers. Not only do teachers produce responsible citizens of tomorrow, but they also weave the moral fabric our children will be enveloped in for life. The school has taken huge steps in modernising and refurbishing housing for teachers resident on campus. However, the task is far from complete. If our development effort can give every teacher a comfortable, energy efficient, well furnished home, it is half the battle won in maintaining the teaching standards of excellence that will keep The Delhi Cambridge School at the forefront of education.
